My husband & I made up our last name

If you’ve seen some older articles about me on the internet, even ones linked to this website, you probably noticed my former last name was DiMartile.

That last name served me well for much of my life, but after three years of working with a coach and going through countless life changes, a shift was needed. 

At the time my coaching began, I was working in a toxic environment and finalizing a divorce. Within less than two years, I quit my job, filed papers to start my own LLC and form a private practice, bought a house, got a dog and a cat, moved to the suburbs, got married and my husband and I adopted a child. 

Busy couple of years. Also the BEST years of my entire life. After bringing our daughter into our lives, my husband and I wanted to find a creative and personal way to show our connection and the love of our family. 

We thought what better way to do that than legally change our last name to combine our old ones and create an energy of one. My husband’s former last name was O’Brien. 

So, we went to social media, of course, and asked our friends and loved ones to give us ideas and help us find a way to combine our names. 

DiBrielle was the winner. We took the Di from my former name, added the Brie from my husbands and lle from the end of my former name for the end. Yep, you noticed. We added an extra ‘l’ for spelling purposes and the DiBrielle name was born! 

We aim to be an example for others that we are in charge of our own lives. We should make choices that serve us. We should do what brings us joy and happiness. Every single day.
